1973 - Citizens for a Better Environment: a national "environmental united fund," CBE helped local and regional groups with environmental lawsuits, educational programs, and research projects. I served as Director of Public Relations and Office Manager of the New York City branch. I researched, wrote, and designed brochures and other literature for CBE (including its New York newsletter), trained staff, and dealt with the media.
1974 - Citizens' Defense Fund: a CBE spin-off serving the Albany, New York area. I served as Office Manager and Director of Public Relations with the same responsibilities and tasks as at CBE.
1977 - Catskill Energy & Environment Fair: Co-organizer.
1979 - Empire State Solar Association: trade association of solar professionals in New York. A founder, director, and elected first secretary.
1979 - Delegate to First World Congress on Alternatives and Environment in Vienna, Austria.
1980 - Elected to International Trade Committee of the Solar Energy Industries Association, Washington, D.C.
1981 - Delegate to Solar Energy USA, a series of DOE/DOC-sponsored exhibits and lectures in Europe.
1981 - Appointed Village of Ellenville representative to Ulster County Environmental Management Council.
1981 - Charter member of Windpower Committee of the Mid-Hudson Renewable Energy Association
1981 - Appointed to Ellenville Historic Preservation & Restoration Committee.
1981 - Public Relations Director of Friends of the Ellenville Public Library.
1983 - Publicity director of Ellenville Art in the Square.
1984-1987 - The Gandhi Memorial International Foundation, USA. I served on the Board of Advisors and as Publications Director for the foundation, designing and writing copy for the foundation's fund-raising literature; this included editing, designing, and producing Gandhi Today, the quarterly magazine of the foundation.
1985 - Appointed to Ellenville Economic Advisory Committee.
1989 - Chairman of Ellenville Visual Arts Circle.
1994 - Joined Ellenville's Noonday Club.
1995 - Master of Ceremonies, Mahatma Gandhi World Peace Award Ceremonies, Bombay, India.
2000 - Co-Founder of Ulster Friends of Nader.
2000 - Elected Secretary of Ulster County Greens.
2000 - Co-Founder of Democracy101.
2000 - Founder of Wawarsing Greens.
2001 - Elected a State Committeeperson of The Green Party of New York State for Ulster County.
2001 - Candidate for new District 1 of Ulster County Legislature on Green, Democratic, and Independence lines, my first run for elective office, although I've asisted in election campaigns for several candidates.
2002 - Elected Secretary of Ellenville's Noonday Club.
2002 - Elected Secretary of Ulster County Committe of the Green Party.
2003-2005 - Editor of Wawarsing.Net for Ellenville-Wawarsing Chamber of Commerce.
2003 - Elected 2nd Vice President of Ellenville's Noonday Club.
2003 - Candidate for new District 1 of Ulster County Legislature on Democratic and Independence lines.
2004-2005 - Elected to Ellenville Village Board on Democratic and "Clean Sweep" lines.
2004 - Appointed to Ellenville Library & Museum's Museum Advisory Board.
2004 - Appointed to Ellenville Bicentennial Committee
2004-2006 - Elected a State Committeeperson of The Green Party of New York State for Ulster County for second time.
2004-2006 - Selected to be Catskill/Mid-Hudson Region Representative to The Green Party of New York State Executive Committee and to be Deputy Treasurer.
2005-2007 - Re-elected to Ellenville Village Board on Democratic and "Clean Sweep" lines. First Green in New York State to be RE-Elected to municipal office.
2005-2006 - Elected to Steering Committee of Sustainable Hudson Valley
2005 - Selected to be Catskill/Mid-Hudson Region Alternate Delegate to The Green Party of the United States National Committee.
2005-2006 - Became Catskill/Mid-Hudson Region Delegate to The Green Party of the United States National Committee.
2006 - Founded SWEET (Sustainable Wawarsing-Ellenville Emergency Transition).
2006 - Founded WERD (Wawarsing-Ellenville for Responsible Development).
2007 - Founded The SMART Party (SMART = Sustainably Managed Allocation of Resources and Tools).
Also, I've been involved in many ongoing local community activities through the years, including: Ellenville's Run Like the Wind; the Noonday Club's Halloween Mardi Gras and Senior Citizen Holiday Dinner; taping local historical events for library/museum archives; and moderating "Meet the Candidates" forums for school and town elective races.
